Get Rid of Strawberry Legs

Are you concerned by the dark spots in your pores known as strawberry legs? Turns out you’re not alone! We’ve covered what strawberry legs means and what causes these dark spots in your pores here. Although we know they’re harmless, we want them gone stat. Are they treatable?

The great news is yes, strawberry legs can be treated and are by no means permanent.

Here are our tips to get rid of strawberry legs for good.

    1. Exfoliate regularly - The first step is exfoliate. Our first recommendation is dry body brushing gently to invigorate the skin and remove dead skin cells. Our second recommendation is a gentle exfoliating mitt or exfoliating scrub. We like to use a natural coffee or sugar scrub with oils. Remember the key is to be gentle. The ingredients that may help reduce the appearance of pores to keep an eye out for include glycolic or salicylic acid. Look for these featured in the formula ingredients list as they exfoliate dead skin cells, reduce inflammation and unclog pores effectively.
    2. Do not use a razor with soap strips. Not only are they usually filled with chemicals which means they should stay clear of freshly shaved legs, they also create a buildup of slime and often bacteria between the multi blade razors they’re attached to. This means with each shave you are gliding bacteria over your delicate open pores. Don't get us started on the impact on the planet...
    3. Shave with a sharp, single blade razor to avoid irritation and cutting the hair under the skin which may result from using multiple blades. Clean between your blades and replace your blades regularly. Our Smooth Operator razor is easy to unscrew and clean during and after every shave. IF you have thicker hair, you will need to replace your blades more regularly. The quality of your razor and blades is extremely important.
    4. Use high quality formulation products including a nourishing shave oil to keep your skin moisturised before and during your shave and also a post shave cream or balm. We love aloe vera as an extremely hydrating, soothing and repairing ingredient. Aloe vera is one of our daily rituals being a very effective in fighting bacteria and fungi and extremely moisturising. Moisturise both after your shave and every other day to keep your skin nourished.

We encourage you to be patient and be consistent for optimal results. Please do not scrub your legs daily or aggressively. This is a common mistake and although may feel like a temporary fix it can cause severe irritation and cause inflammation, redness, a rash and potentially pain.

If symptoms do persist or pain or itchy skin occurs please contact your doctor immediately.
