Double or Triple Chin

I remember when I was younger, my friends and I used to embrace our double chins, or triple chins for that matter. We used to send Snapchat’s to each other and have a good laugh about it. Although, as we get older (especially females) insecurities begin to arise and our double chins aren’t so funny anymore… Alas, no need to fret! The ladies at Ritology have got you covered!

First of all, what causes a double chin? Well, a double chin, also referred to as ‘submental fat’ is a common occurrence, and appears as a layer of fat below your chin. When that layer becomes substantial enough, the formation of a wrinkle becomes visible and appears as what we call a ‘triple chin’. Double chins are often associated with weight gain, genetics, or even having loose skin from ageing. If you’ve got a double, or triple chin and want to get rid of it, we have some solutions for you.

It’s quite simple, all you need is a Gua Sha tool! Or even one of Ritology’s very own Body Shaper’s (a shameless plug of course). Gua Sha is a traditional Chinese practice, and something that has been practised for years. It is certainly an effective alternative, however it is important that you stay consistent to reap the benefits of well, a single chin… Remember, consistency is key.

The process is also very simple, gently scrape the curved edge of the body shaper along your neck, jaw and chin working towards your hairline. Use short strokes in the same direction, going over each area 3-5 times with a pause at the end of each stroke. Not only will using a gua sha contour your features, but it also releases stored tension in your facial muscles - it’s a win-win situation. Make sure to also use your body shaper with warm water, oil, serum or your favourite moisturiser to ensure a smooth glide over your skin.

We at Ritology cannot get enough of Gua Sha. The simplicity of adding this to your everyday ritual, whether it’s during the morning or evening, can promote overall mental and physical wellbeing… and reduce your double or triple chin.
