IN THE SPOTLIGHT: BROOKE MEREDITH

What is one of the most significant moments in your life that shaped who you are today?
I don’t believe there was one particular event that has attributed to who I am today, rather many years of learning’s, adapting, growing and pushing myself to always do better and be better.
I’ve always worked extremely hard from a young age. Partly because I’m an overachiever (hello A-type personality) and partly because I’ve always had the belief instilled in me that if you want something you have to work hard for it.
I’m grateful for the time I spent modelling overseas as a young adult. While it was a tough experience (to put lightly), I do believe this allowed me to grow immensely as a person. Navigating this stage of my life not only taught me so much about the world and different cultures, it really gave me an insight into how mentally strong I could be. I honestly don’t think I would be as resilient as I am now and have the tenacity to chase my dreams if I hadn’t learned from those extreme conditions and experiences.
You’ve achieved so much as model, founder, editor, director and entrepreneur. What are your morning rituals and must dos to ensure you get the most out of your day?
In order to have a productive day, I need to start the day early and with some sort of exercise. It just puts me in the right frame of mind to be focused and diligent at the tasks ahead.
If I hit snooze too much and think I’ll just sleep in for that extra 30-1hour, I can almost guarantee my day has already started off on the wrong foot and in return, I usually have a slow, unproductive day.
Your luxury lifestyle publication “A Conscious Collection” inspires us and give that boost of creativity we need in our lives. What are some key milestones that helped you get to where you are today?
A Conscious Collection actually started off as a personal blog where I shared recipes and wellness tips. Purely as a creative outlet while I was studying design at University.
When I saw a gap in the market to create a bespoke wellness publication, the first print edition certainly created a wave of awareness that allowed me to further peruse the production of the magazine.
Some other key milestones would be securing incredible high-profile talent for our features. Knowing that these influential figures wanted to jump on board and help support the publication because they saw such strength in it in its infancy gave me the confidence to propel forward. It also gave the publication an added boost of credibility within the media industry, that in return brought in larger and more reputable partners.
In a perfect world, who would be your ultimate guest to feature in A Conscious Collection and why?
That’s a hard one. I admire so many people from many industries. At the moment I’m girl-crushing hard on Rosie Huntington Whitely. What a dream
You live a healthy and active lifestyle and we love to follow along for motivation. With a full daily schedule how do you like to slow down and take time for yourself?
I love walking. If I have some time in my schedule, I’ll break up my day with a walk along the beach. On my days off I love just relaxing at home. I’m a huge homebody so I love nothing more than slow, meaningful days at home pottering in the garden or cooking with friends.
We appreciate the learning’s and growth from our setbacks, although in the moment they can be tough. What is one of the biggest setbacks that you have experienced, and can you share some strategies you use to dust off and keep moving forward?
In an industry such as modelling you are constantly faced with rejection and criticism. Imagine going for a job interview four times a day to be told “no, sorry you are not good enough” repeatedly. However, it’s because of your physical looks… not skillset as a job interview would require.
It’s these setbacks time after time that really taught me the art of resilience – honestly, it’s made me a really strong person in life and business so I have always learned to take the positive with every negative and use it to push forward.
We love to share ideas on how others can make the most of their down time. How do you spend your weekends for fun?
I love just being at home and hanging with loved ones. If not at home, I love road trips and escaping for mini getaways. Nothing like a change of scenery and a dose of nature to help you re energise.
What are some of your go to skin/beauty products that allow you to keep that daily glow?
As an Editor, I’m always trialing different products to review and give honest feedback to our readers. At the moment I’m loving Aspect SPF 50+ CC cream which I wear every day without fail and The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid for everyday hydration.
We are all about making the most of the tail end of the year. If you can share with us, do you have goals set for the last two months of 2020 that will finish the year on a high (considering the year that has been)?
I’m just really looking to enjoy the last of the year. It’s been such a crazy ride for all and I’ve had to really lower my expectations of what we were able to physically achieve with the magazine given the global economic state. While delivering insightful and inspiring content to our readers is always our priority, I’m also mindful to not take these slower times for granted as I know as soon at some sort of normality comes back, it will be full-steam-ahead.
